About this day nursery

30am until 6pm, all year round. This childcare setting caters to children aged 0-4 years and received a "Good" rating in its latest Ofsted inspection on 21 January 2025.

Children are observed to arrive happily, confidently leaving their parents and carers at the door, and feel safe and secure due to the kind and nurturing interactions of staff. The day nursery provides stimulating indoor and outdoor areas where children freely choose and explore activities, moving between them with purpose and engagement.

Outdoor learning encourages creativity, with children squashing berries and adding water to mud as an alternative to paint, and using natural objects to make marks on hanging fabric. The curriculum has been redesigned to focus on children's language, communication, personal, and physical development.

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) make good progress from their starting points, benefiting from knowledgeable staff who identify emerging gaps quickly and implement personalised programmes. A strong emphasis is placed on developing language and communication skills, with staff using props and creative reading techniques.

The day nursery effectively utilises additional funding to purchase sensory resources that promote emotional well-being, demonstrating a commitment to supporting all children.

How they support every child

SEND provision

After touring a few nursery's in the area I chose Horn End for my son. Their environment and ofsted rating first attracted me to them and my decision wasn't wrong. They have the most caring and accommodating staff. They really listen to you about your child's individual needs and ensure they're well looked after. They apply a range of techniques including special boxes, introductory visits (as many as needed) and a variety of feeding methods to make sure each child is comfortable and fed. This is important to me as a breast feeding mum who's children didn't really take to bottles. My second son is starting with them in January and I honestly can't recommend them enough to anyone looking for childcare.
