La Petite Ecole Bilingue Cambridge Gardens Nursery, part of The Stewart Bilingual School, welcomes children from two years old for full-day, morning, or afternoon sessions, running Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, with morning sessions only on Wednesdays. The nursery offers a unique dual-language approach, with activities conducted in both English and French by native speakers.
The curriculum integrates the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) for English and Education Nationale for French, delivered by qualified early years teachers. The nursery prioritises small class sizes, offering a personalised teaching programme that allows children to learn at their own pace, not solely based on age.
The dedicated staff provides careful supervision. The teaching plan is flexible, adapting to each child's age and rhythm of learning.
The nursery focuses on active teaching methods, promoting autonomy and encouraging children to express themselves from their first class. A wide variety of cultural, theatrical, artistic, musical, and sports activities are provided by visiting specialists to encourage holistic development.
The nursery also embraces a Forest School approach, with weekly outdoor learning sessions every Monday. This allows children to explore nature, learn about the environment, and develop confidence and independence through hands-on experiences, fostering personal, social, and technical skills.
Our ethos
The principal aim of our school is to offer an ambitious and inclusive bilingual curriculum in a happy, caring and intellectually stimulating environment. We aim for every pupil to feel a valued member of the school community and to have a sense of being personally nurtured. We place an emphasis on forging an excellent relationship between the children and their teachers and between the children themselves across all year groups as we believe this has a positive impact on their personal and academic development. We work hard to foster the confidence of each child and their ability to work independently as well as within a group. Children are encouraged to be inquisitive, think for themselves and to actively participate in class in front of their peers and teachers. Our small class size means every individual is noticed. Small groups and one to one sessions are used to tailor our teaching programme to each individual child. We have a screen-free approach to education. We believe our homely and culturally vibrant environment is a wonderful place for children to spend the magical years of primary school and enables them to flourish and grow into confident, articulate, caring and emotionally intelligent young people.

Outside, children hang upside down from straps in a tree and count toy ducks in a water tray as they recall and sing familiar songs.
Charges include a non-refundable enrolment fee due upon registration. Late collections are subject to an hourly surcharge, with children automatically transferred to the afterschool care room.

Hot lunch provided daily (except Wednesdays). Parents provide 5 fruits for snacks on Mondays. Milk and water provided by nursery. Children staying for Wednesday club need packed lunch. Breakfast cereal can be brought from home to be served at nursery. Nursery can heat up microwavable meals. Special dietary requirements can be discussed.

Recent staff training, in how to provide specific sessions to develop children's focus and concentration, has enabled staff to provide targeted support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. As a result, children receive the input needed to help them to thrive and make good progress in their learning and development.
Outside, children explore with enthusiasm and excitement. They march in time to music and strengthen arm and leg muscles as they climb, run and balance on a variety of equipment.
