What it's like

They feel safe and secure, engaging in a broad range of carefully planned activities that cater to their needs and interests, and staff encourage them to use their senses and develop thinking skills. Children's views are regularly considered, leading to changes in activities and the nursery setup, which positively impacts their behaviour, self-esteem, and understanding of democracy and respect.
Fees are charged for standard full days or half-day morning and afternoon sessions, with additional and ad-hoc options available. Rates include all meals, snacks, nappies, wipes, sun cream, and extra-curricular activities. A minimum booking of two sessions over two different days is required.

Inclusion & environment
The special educational needs coordinator works well with staff and families. Key persons are equipped with strategies to help children catch up to reach their full potential. Staff skilfully adapt their communication and expectations to enable children to join in and contribute. This ensures that children with identified delays in their learning make good progress.
Some children said they did not enjoy the activities in the garden. They suggested that staff put real vegetables in the role-play area outside. This change was made and, consequently, they and other children have spent more time developing their imaginative skills outside. There is a robust daily risk assessment system in place to ensure that any hazards to children's safety are minimised in the garden, in the nursery and on trips out.
Choosing a nursery is one of the hardest decisions when becoming a parent. It’s made more difficult by the fact we have to do so when our children are weeks old, or when we’re pregnant. Lancing Day Nursery has been such a wonderful decision! They care so much about the children. I’m always surprised when staff from the older rooms know our child’s name. That kind of attention is incredibly reassuring. Seeing our child’s baby snug staff so excited when he’s progressed well with settling, or done something funny lights us up, and we know he’s being well taken care of. The end of day handover updates are also super detailed. Thank you Catherine, Rachel, Chelsea and Charlotte! (Sorry if I’ve forgotten any names!) In addition to this, the food is absolutely amazing and the children all love the chef, George. When we first looked around, I was unsure at first by the fact there is only one room in the baby snug. But actually, this has been something we really like. It offers an area that can be more focused to play and activities, the children are able to interact more easily, and they have direct access to their own sheltered, outside area. I don’t think this would have been the same in other facilities we looked at where there are multiple rooms in a house style setting. Something we’ve also noticed is the community feel. We’ve encountered really friendly parents at pick up/drop off and everyone seems so happy with the care provided. Another bonus is that the nursery is located inside the Family Centre so there is no waiting outside in the cold/rain! I’d really encourage anyone in the local area to consider Lancing Day Nursery - it’s been so great for us!
