The latest Ofsted inspection, on 30th June 2022, rated Little Acorns as "Good" in overall effectiveness, quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management. The curriculum includes opportunities for developing physical skills on an indoor climbing frame and through manipulating play dough to enhance small-muscle control. Outdoor learning is a significant feature, with a secure space for bug investigations, mathematical activities pouring flour, and coordination development with bicycles and scooters.
A recently acquired piece of land has been adapted into a forest school, further enhancing outdoor learning, and staff receive specific training in this area. Little Acorns is proactive in supporting children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), ensuring swift action for necessary support, which contributes to excellent progress for these children.
The setting also prepares older children for their transition to primary school through good links with local schools and age-appropriate activities. Staff promote healthy lifestyles, teaching children about healthy snacks and oral hygiene.
