Little Explorers Nursery in Burgess Hill prioritises the emotional well-being of each child to support their holistic development. The nursery focuses on respecting individuality and fostering a sense of belonging, which is believed to build confidence for exploration, learning, and growth.
Experienced practitioners guide children through a blend of structured learning, open-ended play, and extensive outdoor experiences. Children have continuous access to outdoor spaces, equipped with various resources to stimulate their senses and creativity.
With a strong emphasis on nature, creative activities, and community engagement, Little Explorers aims to nurture children into secure and independent learners. The nursery features a combined Toddler Den (18 months to 3 years) and Preschool Room (3-5 years), promoting strong relationships among children and staff.
This setup allows younger children to learn from older peers, while older children develop responsibility, and reduces anxiety during transitions. The Den includes a cosy reading corner, an expressive arts area, and a home corner with a play kitchen and costumes to encourage imaginative and social play.
The preschool room prepares children for school by building confidence, independence, and essential skills.

Inclusion & environment
The special educational needs coordinators spoke to the inspector about how they support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
The inspector observed the quality of education being provided, indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact that this was having on children's learning. Staff support children to pick home-grown herbs from their garden as they create sauces in cookery club.
I have just come across and reprimanded a man and a woman looking after a large group of tiny children wearing Little Explorers tabards for allowing the kids to sit directly on the filthy pavement outside the shops in the middle of Burgess Hill town centre, surrounded by cigarette butts, chewing gum and all sorts of other street detritis. I'm not sure these people should be looking after children, they have a a total lack of common sense.
