Apricot Day Nursery, situated in St Neots, offers an intimate and nurturing environment focused on early childhood education. The nursery believes in the significant benefits of early education, contributing to children's cognitive, social, and physical development while boosting confidence and independence.
They use the Montessori approach in a home-like setting, encouraging learning through play and tailored activities based on individual interests. The dedicated team works to prepare children for school through their "Next Stop School" programme, which helps develop essential skills for the transition.
The nursery is split across two sites for nursery and pre-school, each featuring safe, age-appropriate outdoor play areas. Their rooms are well-equipped with natural resources to foster independence and discovery.
Apricot Day Nursery also follows "The Brighter Learning Approach," their unique take on the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, which emphasises hands-on experiences, child-led learning, and critical thinking across six core areas: My Happy and Healthy Self, Wonderful World, Super Steam, Raving Readers, Mini Maths, and Confident Speakers and Communicators. They offer various clubs and enhancements such as Cookery, Budding Movers, Budding Artists, Budding Musicians, Budding Gardeners, and Budding Scientists to enrich children's learning experiences.
The nursery ensures strong parent communication, prioritises safety, prepares fresh, nutritious meals on-site, and assigns a key person to each child to facilitate close relationships with both children and parents.

Inspector highlights
Inclusion & environment
Staff quickly identify where children need support and guidance. They plan meaningful activities to close any learning gaps. As a result, children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, make excellent progress in their learning and development.
The nursery environment inspires awe and wonder, bringing the outside in. For instance, when children are building in the garden, they explain the need for sand and water to make bricks, and use house plans and tools to measure and plan their building.
My little girl only started Little Green Rascals Haxby at the start of this year in January 2026 and within that month she is thriving so much already. She absolutely loves going, a big shoutout to the amazing Wiggly Worms team for helping her settle into nursery life so well. Even though I am a staff member here at Haxby, I can honestly say I do 100% feel valued & supported as a parent too. We are always getting regular updates about how she is and what she has been up to. Lovely, exciting and inspiring activities out everyday for the children to explore. All the staff are lovely, so caring & nurturing. I couldn’t ask for better role models for my little girl. They always go above and beyond for the children in their care and families. I really wouldn't want to send my child anywhere else!! X
Read on GoogleMy daughter has been going there for 2 months and I’ve never seen a happier baby. She is learning so much so quickly and putting her into little green rascals has been the best thing for her. She has so much fun and every time she comes home she has learnt something new. She tries so many new foods too. All the staff are amazing and kind and they listen to your child’s wants and needs and learn about your child as if they were their own. Super happy we have our little one going here!
Read on GoogleMy son started in the pre school room in December and it’s been brilliant to watch him settle in so well and be so welcomed by the team at Haxby. Special mention for Gemma who my son is always excited to see. Gemma always takes extra time to talk me through his day and I feel so reassured he’s having a lovely time. Also, a thank you to Rachel who helped me understand all the funding processes and was so knowledgable and patient! Can’t rate the nursery and team more highly!
