About this day nursery

Little Waves Daycare, located in Redcar, has been operating since 2004 and provides childcare for children aged 1 to 9 years. The day nursery has an overall rating of Requires Improvement, but the latest inspection on 2026-03-05 highlighted several positive changes since the previous inspection.

Staff at Little Waves Daycare are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment, offering sensitive and effective support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, as well as those previously known to social care. They work closely with external professionals like speech and language therapists and Portage services to ensure tailored support, reflecting advice in individual plans.

The day nursery promotes children's physical development with outdoor play, encouraging activities like climbing, balancing, kicking balls, and scooping sand, and children enjoy playing outside. Parents have expressed high satisfaction, noting regular updates on their child's day and progress through staff discussions and an electronic app.

While the curriculum for older and more able children needs further embedding, the setting ensures children's safety and provides a happy, well-cared-for environment.
