Mulberry Bush Ashbourne Ltd, established in 2015, is a childcare setting on non-domestic premises in Ashbourne, catering to children aged 0-4 years. The nursery operates Monday to Friday, all year round, from 7:30 am to 6 pm, providing full-day care.
This setting prides itself on its warm and caring staff, fostering very positive relationships with children, who arrive eager to play and learn. The nursery has a well-sequenced curriculum with a strong focus on children's personal, social, and emotional development, based on the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.
Children are encouraged to be curious through well-placed questions, such as identifying herbs in the garden. The nursery also provides funded early education for two-, three-, and four-year-old children, supporting those with special educational needs and/or disabilities and children who speak English as an additional language.
Healthy meals are cooked on-site, and there are opportunities for physical activity, including group exercise sessions where children learn about warming up muscles.

Inclusion & environment
The nursery supports children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, though staff need to improve in quickly identifying emerging concerns to ensure timely support and activities are put in place.
The inspector observed the quality of education during activities, indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning, suggesting that outdoor play is integrated into the curriculum.
The nursery supports children who speak English as an additional language, with staff naturally extending their language and checking understanding through high-quality interactions, though less-confident children could benefit from more targeted support.
Our son stayed in MB for a year and we were very pleased with the setting. The carers are so lovely and caring with the kids. From the moment I came in, I thought it was the right place for J to stay there, The staff have been there for years (it is always a good sign!) and there's a really small ratio child/practitioner. I felt really sad when I had to change my hours at work and we had to change nursery. Thank you so much for everything and keep doing the same amazing job!
