Opening hours
Munchkins Childcare are open 50 weeks of the year, and close for two weeks over the Christmas period. Breakfast Club (7.30am - 9.00am) and After-School Club (4.00pm - 6.00pm).
Munchkins Childcare, co-located with Moorgate Nursery School in Ormskirk, Lancashire, provides comprehensive childcare services that complement the nursery school's educational offerings. Catering to children from a young age, Munchkins offers extended care options beyond the nursery's term-time schedule, including a Breakfast Club, After-School Club, and Holiday Club, operating for 50 weeks a year.
This flexibility allows families to combine free entitlement hours from the nursery school with additional wraparound care at Munchkins. The setting prioritises a smooth transition for new children through home visits or telephone calls, followed by a phased admissions programme.
Committed to accessibility, Munchkins actively supports government-funded childcare schemes, including the 15 and 30-hour entitlements for eligible families, and aims to provide an inclusive environment for all children.

Inclusion & environment
Staff identify that some children, including those born during the COVID-19 pandemic, may require more emotional support when they first start at the nursery. Therefore, staff ensure that they give children extra time when they first settle in and as they progress through the nursery. All children, including those who receive additional funding, make good progress because staff understand the skills that children require to help them to progress.
Outdoors, children develop their larger muscles and good hand-eye coordination in a range of ways. They ride on tricycles and experience cooking on the firepit and building dens.
Both of my children have been to Moorgate Nursery School and have been so so happy! Such a nurturing, positive, caring environment with excellent teachers who know the children so well. From the early (daunting!) days starting nursery to transitioning to primary school, children are well looked and truly thrive. My 4year old has come on leaps and bounds…I hear about her progress regularly. She loves going to nursery and hates coming home! Often leaving singing songs from that day! She will be leaving soon and I am gutted that my journey with the Moorgate family is coming to an end. Very highly recommended!
Read on GoogleMoorgate Nursery school is a truly outstanding nursery school. It is in the centre of Ormskirk, has easy access for drop off outside and has a very large, imaginative (and sheltered) outdoor play space which the staff utilise very well and the children get to play outdoors every day. The staff are very good at preparing the children for school. Munchkins childcare is also based on site which has offered the flexibility of having our younger children on the same site as 4 year old and wraparound care/holiday club.
