Newbottle & Charlton Pre-School, established in 1967, provides educational care for children aged 18 months to 5 years in Charlton, Banbury. As a registered charity and member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance, it operates under the guidance of the Children’s Act 2004 and undergoes regular Ofsted inspections to maintain national standards and qualify for Nursery Education Funding for 3 and 4-year-olds.
The pre-school is proudly managed by a volunteer trustee committee that collaborates with staff to oversee daily operations. Featuring five qualified staff members, the pre-school offers sessions from 8am to 6pm, Monday through Thursday, and 8am to 4pm on Fridays.
It also partners with FreshStart to provide hot meals at lunchtime. The primary mission of Newbottle & Charlton Pre-school is to deliver exceptional care and education, work alongside parents to foster children's growth, enrich the local community, and uphold a service that champions equality and celebrates diversity.
Children benefit from a stimulating, secure setting with a high adult-to-child ratio, a strong emphasis on learning through play, and a dedicated personal key worker to support their development.

The Pre-school aims to provide high quality care and education for children primarily below statutory school age. We work in partnership with parents to help children to learn and develop. We aim to add to the life and well- being of the local community. We offer children and their parents a service which promotes equality and values diversity.

Fees are charged on a per-session basis, with options for standard sessions and hourly ad-hoc care. The nursery also offers early morning drop-offs, a daily lunch club, and various after-school session lengths.

Inclusion & environment
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are supported well. Funding is used effectively to provide focused support from staff. All children make good progress from their starting points, and staff know their individual needs very well. When staff identify that a child may not be making progress in a particular area of their development, interventions or support from outside agencies are swiftly put into place.
The inspector observed the quality of education being provided, indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact that this is having on children's learning.
