Panda Play Playgroup, established in 1993, is a much-loved community setting in Winterton, offering childcare for children aged 2 to 4 years old. Open term-time from Wednesday to Friday, 9:15 am to 3:15 pm, children are happy and settled, eagerly leaving their parents to join their friends.
The playgroup fosters independence and confident communication, with children choosing from a rich array of resources to explore their interests, such as bandaging toy animals after a vet visit or sharing adventures with "Peter Panda". The setting deeply integrates with the local community, taking children to shops, parks, and farms, and enthusiastically participating in community events like the annual "Charity Float" competition.
Children benefit from a well-planned programme that supports all areas of learning within a well-resourced indoor and outdoor environment. There are ample opportunities for physical development, including balancing on beams, running, jumping, and using soft-play equipment.
The playgroup uses additional funding effectively to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), working closely with multi-agency professionals to ensure timely support. Furthermore, children are provided with healthy and nutritious snacks daily.
The playgroup focuses on supporting children's language and mathematical development through skilled questioning and engaging activities, promoting positive attitudes and kind behaviour. There is also a strong emphasis on mental health and well-being, with a designated mental health first aider and resources like a "feelings basket" to help children regulate their emotions.

Additional funding is used well to support children's learning and development. Staff work in partnership with a variety of multi-agency professionals to ensure that any support children require is put in place swiftly.
Outdoor space
Children have plenty of opportunity to develop their physical skills, both indoors and outdoors. They enjoy balancing on beams, running, jumping and using a variety of soft-play equipment to support this. Children explore a well-resourced outdoor and indoor learning environment, which they thoroughly enjoy.
