About this early years setting

Partou Small World Day Nursery & Pre-School, situated in Hatfield, Doncaster, offers high-quality early years education and childcare from a distinctive old farmhouse barn building. The nursery provides spacious, neutrally decorated rooms equipped with natural material toys to inspire creativity and learning.

Children benefit from a large garden with direct access from each room, promoting outdoor play and a connection with nature. Pre-School children engage in a "growing garden" where they cultivate and taste seasonal vegetables, encouraging healthy eating habits and environmental awareness.

A dedicated sensory room, featuring lights and various textured toys, offers a safe and stimulating environment for emotional regulation and cognitive development across all age groups. The nursery team is known for their welcoming and supportive approach, fostering strong bonds with the children.

Although located on a main road, the nursery ensures safe drop-offs and pick-ups via a private back lane with electric gates leading to a car park. Partou Small World Day Nursery & Pre-School aims to provide a nurturing, home-from-home setting where children can learn, explore, and flourish.

Outdoor space

Two-year-olds have great fun recalling familiar parts of a story as they go on a bear hunt in the outside play area. Children identified that they would like a big story chair outside as they had no chairs to sit on when they wanted to read books, and this has been provided.

My son attended small world for over 4 years and has recently just left to go to school. I am so happy with my choice to send him there. It has so much to offer, from caring staff, to a beutiful outside area with fantastic resources. He still talks about the staff members and asks to go and visit them. I would without a doubt recommend Small World to anyone who needs a nursery.

As today marks LB last day at nursery, I just wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt thanks to you all. From the time he joined you at just 9 months old, through to today, the care, kindness, and support you have given him has been truly wonderful. Over the years, so many of you have played a part in his journey, and it’s clear to see the impact you’ve had on his growth, development, and confidence. We are so grateful for the warmth, patience, and encouragement shown to him each and every day. Thank you for creating such a nurturing and happy environment where LB has thrived. We will always look back on his time at Small World with such appreciation

Absolutely lovely nursery. My son has come here since he was 6 months old, he has come on leaps and bounds! The staff are so friendly and so welcoming. I have and my son has built a fantastic bonds with his key person. My son has food allergies and the staff cater for this well and are so vigilant with him ensuring he doesn’t take other foods and there is no cross contamination.

Great nursery, each time I pick up my grandchild I am welcomed with friendly enthusiastic staff. They always report on his day at the nursery and give detailed information of his activities. He continues with the account of his day on our way home and I can tell he is really happy here.

Great that the children get to spend so much time outside. The children are encouraged to develop independence and we can definitely see the benefit of this. Staff great but there has been a high turnover (which I imagine is common for this work) and this can be unsettling for the children. The building itself needs a lot of work, both major (all doors and gates are broken/barely hanging on for example) or decorative as it all looks a bit dark and tired.
