About this day nursery

Poppy Fields, located in Scunthorpe, is a nurturing early years setting for children aged 3 to 3 years old. Open Monday to Friday, from 9am until 4pm during term-time, children are happy and settled, eagerly engaging with their friends and a wide range of resources.

The staff at Poppy Fields cultivate strong bonds with the children, who confidently approach them to share their ideas or seek assistance. The setting provides a purposeful program of activities that caters to children's individual interests and supports their developmental journey.

This includes exciting experiences like visits to the theatre, farm, post office, and a Polish bakery, where children learn about the world around them firsthand. They also welcome visitors from different professions, such as police officers and dentists, to enrich the children's learning.

Children are encouraged to explore both the indoor and outdoor learning environments independently, even putting on their own coats and wellingtons before heading outside. Staff expertly guide children to take appropriate risks and challenges through play, fostering their confidence and physical development.

Poppy Fields is particularly strong in its support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). The dedicated special educational needs coordinator works closely with various multi-agency professionals to ensure children with SEND access an ambitious and tailored program of activities, enabling them to make good progress from their individual starting points.

Parents are highly satisfied with the care and education their children receive, often noting improvements in their children's language skills. This is further supported by effective communication through an electronic app, keeping parents well-informed about their child's progress.
