Pound Lane Daycare, established in 2009 by Tania Durrant, grew from a successful childminding business into a dedicated childcare setting in Exmouth. The nursery is purpose-built with three distinct rooms catering to babies, toddlers, and preschool-aged children, all overseen by qualified staff committed to fostering a nurturing, kind, and enjoyable learning environment.
In addition to the individual age-group rooms, the facility boasts a soft play area and two gardens for children to explore. The day care prioritises a safe environment, engaging activities that spark creativity and exploration, and strong partnerships with parents to enrich each child's experience.
What it's like
Staff at Pound Lane Daycare know their children well and effectively adapt the curriculum to foster a positive attitude towards learning. They are adept at recognising potential triggers for unwanted behaviours, redirecting play, and providing children with calm spaces, books, or physical activity as needed, which helps children to self-regulate and understand behavioural expectations. Children, especially the older ones, develop good numerical knowledge and high self-esteem through consistent praise, while younger children enjoy the soft-play area, developing physical skills and forming strong bonds with familiar adults.

Inclusion & environment
Staff assess children's progress effectively and provide additional support when they identify gaps in learning. Staff use any additional funding successfully, for example, to resource intervention groups, to build children's focus and attention.
Older children enjoy opportunities to be physically active. They keenly participate in songs and rhymes, such as 'Head, shoulders, knees and toes', following actions well. They are enthusiastic in their cardio session, moving in different ways. Children concentrate and persevere well to achieve.
I placed my 4YO and 2YO at Tania's tots. Not only did my kids love their time there, I did to. The staff are friendly, helpful and will bend every which way they can to help and step up where possible. They do pick up and drop off's to two local schools my 4YO's being one of them which really helped. Thank you to all at TT's, Really going to miss you all!
