Primary Colours Day Nursery, a family-operated institution in Taunton, has been delivering exceptional childcare and education for over two decades. Established in 1999 by Sue, who boasts more than 40 years of experience in the field, the nursery benefits from the additional expertise of Emma, who joined some years later.
Together, they have cultivated a devoted team of ten fully qualified childcare professionals, collectively possessing over 60 years of experience. The nursery serves children ranging from three months to four years old, providing a secure and supportive setting where children can flourish and acquire knowledge through interactive play and exploration.
The facility is structured into two main areas: "Caterpillars" for infants aged three months to two years, focusing on foundational learning, and "Butterflies" for children aged two to four years, designed to stimulate exploration and creativity. Primary Colours Day Nursery prioritises a warm and caring atmosphere where each child feels secure, content, and encouraged in their developmental journey.
They emphasise individualised care and respect for home routines, offering flexible hours to accommodate the diverse needs of families in Taunton. The nursery also utilises the Tapestry System to track children's progress and achievements.

Inclusion & environment
Children who have delays in their development and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) receive good care and support. Leaders and staff ensure that any additional funding that children are in receipt of is used effectively to meet children’s individual needs and to enhance their learning and experiences.
In the garden, staff promote children’s physical development as they encourage children to use tools and utensils to pour, scoop, dig and mix at the mud kitchen. Children talk about making 'chocolate cookies' and tell the staff what ingredients they have used as they play imaginatively together.
We thought finding a nursery would be easy but after viewing two that wasn’t right we were concerned we wouldn’t find one we liked that also had availability. After viewing Primary Colours it instantly felt right, it has a very warm, homely feel about it. Due to working hours, we required a 7.30am drop off and a 6pm pick up, a lot of nurseries don’t offer this so we were pleased Primary Colours were able to accommodate. Our Daughter has been attending one day a week for over a month now and has settled in well. We love looking at the pictures they upload of what she has been up to. Staff are wonderful and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Primary Colours.
Read on GoogleOur little one absolutely loves going to nursery at Primary Colours. The staff are fantastic with him, we love hearing about what he gets up to there. We feel he has come on leaps and bounds since being there. The staff are very accommodating and friendly. We would highly recommend this setting to friends and family.
Read on GooglePrimary Colours is a wonderful friendly family run nursery. My daughter loved going and so does my son who still attends. They often have themed weeks and the children learn and do activities related to the theme that week. The staff are so genuinely caring, kind and approachable which really makes it stand out.
Read on GoogleI looked at loads of nurseries before choosing Primary Colours. When I visited I was really impressed with its lovely, homely feel. The staff are really lovely and my children are very happy. Whenever I've had changes to my working pattern Emma always gets back to me really quickly and help accommodate the changes wherever they can. I picked my children up the other day and they blew kisses to the staff as they left....that says it all for me!
Read on GoogleAmazing nursery, the staff are so lovely and friendly and they do lots of different activities with the children each week. Our daughter absolutely loves going to nursery, she runs in happily and comes out with a big smile on her face at the end of the day!
