About this day nursery

Seahorse Nursery, founded over 25 years ago by Julia Wolfe, a former army Captain and mother, was established to provide a superior early years education. The day nursery focuses on fostering a love for learning and building confidence in children through purposeful play.

Its unique curriculum integrates various engaging activities such as yoga, cooking, music, tennis, Forest School, French lessons, and science experiments. This approach aims to equip preschool children with essential life skills and a broad educational foundation.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Staff and leaders are proactive in liaising with other professionals. They have the same ambition for all children and ensure they get the support they need. As a result, all children can access the interesting activities and experiences on offer. Staff consistently use signing and pictures to enhance children's understanding. A visual timetable is used to help some children understand the plan of the day and to feel secure.

Outdoor space

Forest school sessions provide children with more opportunities to learn about the world around us. They explore the natural environment using their imagination. For example, children make wands out of sticks and leaves. Young children improve their physical skills by climbing the steps and gliding down the slide.

We cannot recommend Seahorse Nursery enough! Our son took a few weeks to settle but found his feet after that and absolutely loved being at Nursery. The staff are great and I felt they had a genuine bond and care for our son. They take the children out daily and fill their day with lots of varied activities. They make the most of the proximity to Wimbledon Park. Our son loved Mr Ed who comes to sing with the children each week.

My son is new to Seahorse Nursery, and we are absolutely delighted. He’s always eager to go and spend time with his teachers and friends. The staff are wonderfully friendly, which gives me great peace of mind when leaving him in their care. I also really appreciate how they keep me updated on all his activities and progress. I’m excited to see what the future holds.

Our son started at Parkhouse Seahorse in August as a 1 year old. We couldn’t be more pleased with our choice, it feels like a proper home setting and he settled in very quickly. All of the staff are amazing, from the office staff, to the team who looks after him. He loves all of his nursery practitioners and has formed a great bond with them. We feel at ease leaving him in their care. Advantage of being close to Wimbledon Park means they go on regular outdoor trips which is a massive bonus. Highly recommend this nursery.

Our 3 year old son is very happy at Seahorse. The practitioners who look after his class are wonderful and provide personalised care to each child (e.g. they recently gave our son a birthday card with a painting of his favourite book character). The range of activities the group does each week is impressively broad (trips to the park, music, French language, celebrations of different cultures etc.). Everything is well organised and we receive comprehensive daily updates via an App & at pick ups.

We have two children at Seahorse and they are incredibly happy and well settled. The environment is warm, nurturing, and caring. The staff go out of their way to ensure the children have the best time at nursery. From the baby to the preschool room, there is stimulating and exciting educational activities everyday. I highly recommend this nursery for any family looking for an amazing place for their little ones!
