About this day nursery

Shoebury Nursery, located in Shoeburyness, Essex, was established in 2004 and operates as part of the Early Years Alliance, a large chain of nurseries. The nursery offers a comprehensive full-day care programme for children aged 0 to 4, with 76 children currently on roll and a capacity for 84.

The setting is open from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, for 51 weeks of the year, closing only for bank holidays and three staff training days. A dedicated team of 12 childcare staff, with nine holding Level 3 or above early years qualifications, ensures a nurturing and stimulating environment.

The curriculum is ambitious and well-embedded, supporting children in all areas of learning, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). The nursery prioritises children's safety and wellbeing, with effective safeguarding arrangements in place, and a strong focus on fostering independence and critical thinking.

SEND provision

Collaborative working between parents, key persons, and outside professionals such as health visitors and speech and language therapists ensures all children's individual needs are met.

We have been sending our child to this nursery for the last 2 years and we couldn’t be happier. We were extremely fussy and viewed every nursery in the area. It’s a purpose built building with large and inviting rooms for the children. There is a hall where they host breakfast and various activities and a number of outside play areas including a playground and a small field with climbing frame. The staff are wonderful, kind, friendly and most importantly for us comforting and nurturing to the children. They genuinely care for them as well as being fun and interactive. We felt comfortable in their presence from the minute we viewed the nursery. In particular I’d highly praise Angel, Sarah, Claire, Victoria, Nyah, Jill, Donna and Ben. They do all sorts of activities with the children, including teaching them to sign from a young age. They read books and sing songs daily. Children are encouraged to show independence with cutlery from a young age, using the potty and independent play. I am sure my child has flourished because of the engagement and encouragement they have received at the nursery. We receive regular updates and pictures of their day which is wonderful and the staff are great at giving a quick summary of what they have been up to at pick up. Food wise they offer breakfast, healthy snacks and varied lunches and tea throughout the week. As I say we viewed all nursery’s and preschools in the area (multiple times..), including Alleyn Court nursery and Sarah’s Montessori in Leigh but we felt the staff were by far most attentive and warm at Shoebury. I would add don’t judge a book by its cover, the outside of the nursery need a lick of paint and a tidy up but most of those that we viewed are in need of a little TLC aesthetically. Most importantly the people that are spending time with your children love what they do and enjoy playing, drawing, singing and chatting to them.

Awful experience with my child this year, Massive safe guarding issue! Dealt with poorly, words cannot explain how much this nursery has let me down!
