Simply Kids was founded by Selina Scott and Thomas Scannell, who bring over a decade of experience in out-of-school childcare settings. The organisation aims to cater to children aged 4 to 11, specifically from Reception year onwards, offering a supportive environment for personal, social, and emotional growth.

Their mission is achieved by providing engaging activities and resources that foster individual development and cultivate future community leaders. Play is considered a vital element for children's health, well-being, and learning, encouraging creativity, imagination, and the simple joy of childhood.

Simply Kids prioritises community development, seeing it as their most valuable asset, and actively promotes cohesion through diverse activities for both children and adults. They are committed to encouraging self-worth, promoting integrity through honesty and transparency, valuing diversity with inclusion, and fostering respect for all individuals.

The organisation is dedicated to supporting the personal growth journeys of everyone involved, from children's development through play to supporting parents via networks, focusing on community growth over monetary gain. They also prioritise staff development, offering opportunities for experience and qualifications, and involve customers in their expansion decisions to ensure high standards are consistently met, collaborating with local individuals to enhance community growth.

Our ethos

Our mission is to fulfil the needs of all children aged 4 to 11, starting from Reception, by providing a platform that offers opportunities for personal, social, and emotional development. Play is a crucial element in facilitating optimal child development, as recognized by the United Nations Children's Committee (2013). We promote the development of self-love and self-esteem in our activities, enabling individuals to recognize their own worth and value life and others around them.

What it's like

Children typically arrive happy to attend their after-school club. They state they look forward to playing with their peers and engaging in a broad range of fun activities. Children feel settled when they first start, supported by an effective key-person system and communication with their Reception Class teacher, which enables practice to be adapted to support their wellbeing and build trusting relationships with staff. All children benefit from a wide range of fun and exciting activities that supports their different abilities and interests. Children are encouraged to discuss their likes and interest with staff and feel their views are listened to. This supports children to develop a sense of belonging and feel valued.
