About this day nursery

Acorn Nursery, operating in Croydon since its registration in 2004, provides a safe and stimulating environment for children aged from birth to four years. Situated within the grounds of Forestdale Primary School in Selsdon, the nursery is open weekdays from 7:30am to 6pm, 51 weeks a year, offering full-day care.

The dedicated team of nine staff members, with eight holding Level 3 or above early years qualifications, ensures a nurturing atmosphere where children are happy and engage in a wide range of age-appropriate activities. The nursery places a strong emphasis on developing literacy skills, mathematical concepts, and supporting children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) through careful planning and liaison with external professionals.

Children benefit from both indoor and outdoor learning environments, including a well-resourced garden and community outings, fostering their confidence and independence in preparation for school.

How they support every child

SEND provision

The manager and staff work hard to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). They liaise with a range of outside professionals to ensure plans and funding is swiftly put in place. This helps to enhance children's opportunities and reach their full potential.

Outdoor space

Children have good opportunities to obtain fresh air and exercise. They access the well-resourced garden and go on walks in the local community. On outings, they learn how to cross the road safely.

EAL / language support

Children who speak English as an additional language have fewer opportunities to see and use their home language within the setting.
