About this day nursery

St Lawrence's Day Nursery, established in 1999, provides childcare for children aged 3 months to 5+ years, operating Monday to Friday from 8 am to 6 pm. The nursery prides itself on its dedicated and enthusiastic staff, many of whom have been with the nursery since its inception, ensuring continuity of care.

The owner and manager, Claire Oldroyd, also founded St Lawrence’s Pre-school in 2021. The nursery's philosophy centres on creating an enabling and welcoming environment where children feel secure and loved, allowing them to explore, learn, and flourish at every stage of their development.

They offer flexible booking patterns and support various government funding options, including stretched funding for year-round care. Beyond regular nursery and pre-school provisions, St Lawrence's also offers a before and after-school club for children aged 4-11, as well as engaging holiday fun clubs with a programme of activities and trips.

Words can hardly capture how truly wonderful this place is! From the incredible, dedicated staff to the fantastic facilities and the warm, welcoming atmosphere — St Lawrence’s is everything we hoped for and so much more. Communication is always excellent, and it’s clear just how much the staff genuinely care about every child and love what they do. It really feels like an extended family 🫶🏽 We couldn’t be happier and would 1000% recommend St Lawrence’s to anyone looking for a nurturing, joyful nursery for their little ones

They were the best for my baby. We were there for a short time, but I am sure baby enjoyed every second. She was always happy to go in, came out in smiles. I know Zuri misses this wonderful family and I am so glad they were part of her journey. Definitely definitely recommend!

not recommended! we regret sending our daughter. owner/manager was inconsistent with the stories about the incident, she refused to resolve the issue by refusing to show us the cctv footage we requested. my daughter’s hair was cut by one of the children, how could this happen if correctly supervised? inconsistent stories by the staff and the owner which prompted our request to access the footage, aside from children below 3 years old have easy access of big sharp metal scissors of at least 20-30 pairs in a big box! so think twice before sending your children! manager/owner is only prompt when it comes to fees! refused our legal rights to access data! lied about “it never happened before” to “happened 4 years ago” then changed to “20 years ago”! and according to her, her staff was worried and asked her “if they need to tell it to the parents and if they will notice the hair?” so made us wonder what other incidents that happened inside that nursery and the parents are not aware of it?! we feel it’s not a good place to send our daughter where they could lie, hide and even deny our basic rights to make things right!

Fab nursery, the manager and staff team go above and beyond for my child. As a parent it is important to know that your child is being looked after well, which I can say the girls at the setting do this. I have had my child at the setting since he was a new born and never had any issues, they treat each child like their own children which as a mother is what you want. I would highly recommend this nursery to all parents. The care and nurture they receive is OUTSTANDING! I get regular emails, photos and update on my child’s progress as a mother this os what you want to see and hear.
