Stanhope Day Nursery prioritises a safe and secure environment where children are encouraged to develop self-care and independence, from babies learning to feed themselves to older children confidently using cutlery. There is a strong focus on promoting positive behaviour and supporting children with special educational needs and/or disabilities through close collaboration with parents and other professionals.
The setting also encourages children to learn about diverse cultures and traditions, offering a rich and inclusive experience for all.
What it's like
When children arrive, they smile at staff, separate confidently from parents, and seek comfort when needed, indicating they feel safe and secure. Children are willing to help staff maintain a safe environment and learn to use natural materials in different ways, such as banging sticks outdoors to make musical sounds. They are supported to develop their understanding of numbers and counting and to have a positive attitude in their play, learning to manage their own needs.

Inclusion & environment
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are supported well by staff. Close working relationships between staff, parents and other professionals help to identify targets that staff implement to help meet children's individual needs, contributing to children's emotional well-being.
Staff do not support children who speak English as an additional language as effectively with their language development, for example, by not gathering and using key words in the children's home language when communicating with them.
Our daughter went here from 9 months old until almost 5 years old. The rooms are plenty big enough for the amount of children they have. The outdoor area is fantastic and the kids get out often. The staff take incredible care of the children and they are given cuddles, love and reassurance whenever they need it. The culture is very nurturing and the staff often had a child on the hip when they were outside. Always things going on to keep kids entertained. One of daughters favourite things was when they would get to play with torches with lights off! Highly reccomend
Read on GoogleOur son and daughter both attended Stanhope House Day Nursery and we can’t speak highly enough of the friendly and caring team there. Ruth has created a really special nursery. We were so happy with all elements of it - from the wonderful staff, varied activities, lovely garden and nutritious meals served to the kids. Our daughter required some extra help to get walking and the staff went above and beyond to help her and advise us, which really made a difference. We wouldn’t hesitate in recommending the nursery to other parents.
Read on GoogleMy child has been attending Stanhope since January 23 after a brief stint at another nursery. Since we moved to Stanhope I have had nothing but positive interactions with the team. My child has challenges with communication delays which the team have been so supportive with and have made me feel very reassured that they are looking after my child in every way possible. They feedback to me through a thorough handover to let me know his achievements of the day as well as any difficulties he is facing which for me, has been integral to his development and trying to figure out how best to communicate with him. Without Stanhope, I do not think our journey through these challenges would’ve been possible and I cannot recommend them enough.
Read on GoogleI've sent two small, unremarkable infants to Stanhope. So far, they sent back a fabulous person fully engaged in the world who is bursting with joy, resilience, kindness and questions. I'm waiting to see about the second, but its looking good so far... The staff at Stanhope House are so wonderful its almost worth re-training as a nursery nurse. Almost. These are the people with power and influence over the future.
Read on GoogleI placed my daughter in here 3 days a week from 11 months old. We have been overwhelmed with how brilliant they are with her. Put all my worries at ease. Staff are truly wonderful. We consider ourselves lucky to have found this hidden gem of a nursery.
