Stepping Stones Day Nursery, established in 2022, is a warm and welcoming childcare setting in Great Sankey, operating from Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 6:30 pm, all year round for children aged 0–4 years. The nursery received a 'Good' rating in its latest Ofsted inspection on 15th November 2024.
Children here excel, eagerly exploring both indoor and outdoor spaces with purpose. The curriculum is ambitious and meticulously tailored to ensure every child makes good progress.
Staff are skilled at promoting learning, creating a stimulating environment where children quickly become engrossed in a broad range of resources and activities. The nursery offers excellent support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), working closely with external organisations like the local authority to provide comprehensive support, and staff form nurturing relationships with these children.
Outdoor learning is a key feature; babies enjoy walks to the local park and duck pond to learn about nature, toddlers develop balance on obstacle courses, and pre-school children complete larger obstacle courses to enhance their physical skills. The nursery also focuses on developing children's character and life skills, fostering independence and resilience as they face challenges.
Staff purposefully design the provision to promote learning and ensure activities are adapted to meet the needs of all children, demonstrating a good knowledge of each child's unique requirements.

Toddlers balance on a small obstacle course, deciding for themselves how much support they need from staff. Pre-school children develop comprehensive physical skills as they complete large obstacle courses.
