Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Older children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), benefit enormously from the forest school provision. The special educational needs and disabilities coordinator (SENDCo) has a superb understanding of how to meet the needs of children with SEND. She uses additional funding to allow all children to be fully included in every aspect of nursery life.

Outdoor space

Older children benefit enormously from the forest school provision at the local allotment, where staff teach them how to identify and manage risks, fostering an understanding of safety. Children are immersed in their surroundings, engaging in sensory exploration and physical activities, while also developing a respect for nature.

Bell house really is the most wonderful nursary. The entire team is fabulous! Our little girl started in April in ladybirds 2 days a week and the team were fantastic at settling her in. Within a few weeks she was confidently crawling in asking for her morning breakfast! It’s been so lovely to see her develop and gain confidence with the help of the bell house team. Jody the room leader is AMAZING and Pippa’s key worker is emma who is so lovely with her. The food sounds yummy, they do loads of activities with the children and hand over really well to parents at the end of the day. I really can’t recommend Clare and her team at bell house enough.

We couldn’t recommend this nursery highly enough. Our little girl had a difficult start to life and when able to start attending nursery, still needed some special attention. The team were never fazed by any of this, and haven’t just helped to look after her, they have been a fundamental part of her progress, both in terms of her health and overall development. Every member of the team we’ve met has been incredibly friendly and we love hearing about and seeing (via the great online platform they use) all the fun things she does during her time there. If we could give more than 5 stars we would!

I can not recommend this nursery enough, my boys have been going here since Oct 2013, my eldest is now 6 and my youngest 3 1/2. Claire and her team are fabulous and really care about the kids but also about you as a family. My eldest has learning and language difficulties and without the support and dedication from Claire and her team we would be in a very different place now. My son went to school with an EHCP and that was down to the guidance and support I got from the SENCo (Annie) and all of Jack’s key workers, and I cannot thank them enough for the difference this made. My second son, has loved his time at Bellhouse just as much and I will be extremely sad to say goodbye to them all in July.

My son was in Butterflies for 7 months, and only attended morning sessions. We moved him to a pre school when he turned 2. Positives of Bell House: - the staff were sweet and kind - my son was mostly happy - they let us drop off and pick up any time we liked Negatives: - one day he cried for (they told us) 3 hours before they finally called to ask if he was a little unsettled at home, at which point we picked him up immediately. One of the staff members had to be drafted in to cuddle him (who he didn’t know) as the others were too busy (there were 18 kids in the class). We were pretty upset they had left it so long, and I emailed afterwards saying if he is upset please don’t wait as long as this again. He came out asleep as he had cried until he passed out. - I had to email them to remind them to check his nappy before bringing him down for me to collect him as it often had a poo in it. This improved things but not 100%. - it’s just one room, and the outside space is tiny.

My daughter goes to bell house, it’s a fantastic place, she has the best care, I know the staff work extremely hard in giving the best care possible to our children. The management team are incredibly helpful… even when faced with challenges, they handle themselves impeccably well and have always worked hard to resolve any issues… 5 stars to all!!
