The Louisa Centre Nursery, located in Stanley, provides an outstanding early years experience for children aged 0-4 years. Open all year round from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, the nursery offers a thoughtfully planned curriculum delivered by staff with a deep understanding of child development.
The learning environment is extremely welcoming and friendly, fostering excellent behaviour and strong bonds between children and their key persons. The nursery excels in supporting children's personal, social, and emotional development, ensuring they settle quickly and easily.
Physical development is a key focus, with activities in a large sports hall and outdoor exploration in an enclosed garden, encouraging gross and fine motor skills. Staff provide outstanding support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, using verbal and visual prompts, and offering tailored choices to communicate interests.
There is a strong emphasis on building language and communication skills, with children encouraged to explore books and participate in storytelling. The nursery also places a strong focus on working with parents to support children's learning at home.
The knowledgeable and experienced manager provides strong leadership to a well-qualified staff team, fostering continuous improvement.

Inclusion & environment
How they support every child
SEND provision
Staff provide outstanding support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. They use verbal and visual prompts to help support children's understanding and communication. Staff use a tray of toys to help children choose where they would like to play next and what with, helping them to communicate their interests.
Outdoor space
Children develop their large muscles as they twist, roll and turn during activities in the large sports hall. They are encouraged to explore in bare feet to support their movement and balance. Children investigate and experiment with a wide range of natural and tactile resources and materials, exploring cut flowers and real vegetables as they play outside in the enclosed garden.
