The nursery received a 'Good' rating in its latest Ofsted inspection on 17th November 2023. Children are welcomed warmly and confidently wave goodbye to their parents, eager to interact with the friendly staff.
Staff prioritise children's emotional well-being through sensitive interactions, building exceptionally close bonds that make children feel very safe and secure. The staff's consistent modelling of high expectations leads to excellent behaviour, with children showing respect, kindness, and cooperation.
The curriculum is well-designed, offering rich, varied, and meaningful activities that support all children in reaching their individual targets. Staff build on children's interests, ensuring knowledge, skills, and understanding are deeply embedded.
The playgroup focuses on developing both fine and gross motor skills, with opportunities for children to manipulate playdough, use tools like pipe cleaners and scissors, and engage in physical activities both indoors and outside using tricycles and bicycles. The manager and staff work effectively with parents and other professionals, sharing relevant information to support children's welfare and development, particularly for vulnerable children and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), ensuring they make good progress.
The setting fosters a communicative environment where staff engage with children about their experiences, helping them to express their feelings and develop empathy. Children are also supported in developing independence, from selecting their own snacks to practising self-care.
The safeguarding arrangements are effective, with all staff regularly refreshing their knowledge and trained as designated safeguarding leads.

The manager and staff work very well with parents and other professionals, sharing appropriate information to promote children’s welfare and development and enabling their families to receive relevant support. This supports children who are vulnerable and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) to make good progress.
Staff provide opportunities for children to develop their gross motor skills, both inside and outside. Children balance and climb on the indoor apparatus and use tricycles and bicycles outside.

The Vine Playgroup registered in 1993 and employs four members of childcare staff, all of whom hold appropriate early years qualifications at level 3 or above. The playgroup opens from Monday to Friday during term time only, with sessions from 9am to 3pm. It provides funded early education for two-, three- and four-year-old children.
