Tiddlywinks Nursery Group, established in 1994 by Imelda and David Mihell, began as a family enterprise and has since grown into a significant childcare provider in Greater Manchester. The group operates seven nurseries and four out-of-school clubs, collectively serving over 950 children daily.
They are committed to delivering high-quality care through a dedicated team, fostering an inspirational environment where staff are encouraged to bring passion to early years practice. The nursery prioritises healthy eating with balanced menus and incorporates outdoor play as a crucial part of its curriculum, seamlessly extending learning into secure outdoor areas.
Tiddlywinks aims to create a 'home away from home' for children, with a child-centred approach that tailors care to individual needs and interests, guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. They also offer a childcare app for parents to browse nurseries, view fees, and apply for places, ensuring transparency and convenience.
The nursery group is closed on bank holidays and one staff training day per year, but otherwise operates for the full 52 weeks.

Inclusion & environment
Leaders, managers and staff have high aspirations for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). The special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) is an excellent advocate for children with SEND, making prompt referrals to outside agencies and devising precise plans so children access an ambitious curriculum designed to meet their needs.
All children, including babies, are encouraged to be physically active in highly imaginative ways. They join in with 'wake-up and shake-up' sessions that get their bodies moving before a busy day of learning. Toddlers ooze with confidence and demonstrate a can-do attitude as they refine their jumping techniques.
