About this day nursery

Tiny Toes Nursery is a family-run childcare provider in Hoddesdon, catering to children aged 0-5. The nursery is situated in a charming Victorian house, aiming to create a homely and welcoming atmosphere for all.

They offer an all-inclusive service, providing formula milk, nappies, wipes, meals, and snacks. The nursery also organises trips to places like farms, parks, zoos, and theatres, alongside extracurricular activities such as sports, dance, yoga, drama, and language classes, all without additional charges.

The team at Tiny Toes focuses on stimulating learning through daily play with various materials and messy activities to foster sensory experiences and curiosity. They track each child's progress in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and use an online app to share updates, photos, and videos with parents.

The nursery also incorporates physical, outdoor, and "risky play" through weekly sessions with external instructors and a forest school approach to build confidence and a love for nature. Furthermore, Tiny Toes actively engages with the local community through partnerships with groups and businesses to provide enriching experiences and promote social awareness.

They continually invest in improvements, including outdoor surfacing, interactive whiteboards, child-level technology, broadband, CCTV, and sensory resources, ensuring a modern and safe environment for the children.

Our ethos

We are inspired by children's natural instinct to learn, discover and play, and alongside our external providers and community partners, we give children new and varied experiences so that they can be their most curious selves. We encourage each child to reach their full potential by demonstrating a love for nature, sport, art, music and the cultures around us. We value every person, and we model behaviour through tolerance, respect and love for others. We are a family business and we strive to make everyone in the business feel like part of the family. This gives us outstanding continuity of staff and children who know that the staff will always be there to make them feel safe and cared for just like in in their own homes.

Both our daughters attend Tiny Toes three days a week and they absolutely love it! It’s a real home from home environment with structured sensory/learning/exploring fun. Not only is the nursery itself fantastic and well thought out, they also have trips out most weeks, whether that’s to the local fruit and veg stall or a day at the zoo! The team that work there work hard and clearly love what they do and our girls skip in the door every time.

Our son has been attending this nursery for around a year, and the experience has been outstanding. The staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely care about the children’s development. He comes home happy every day, full of stories about the fun activities, creative play, and new friends he’s made. The facilities are bright, clean, and well-equipped, with a great balance of structured learning and free play. Communication from the team is excellent—they provide regular updates and are always happy to discuss his progress. I couldn’t be happier with the care he receives. 10/10—highly recommend!

Our son (2.5years old) has been at Tiny Toes for nearly a year now and I honestly could not recommend this nursery more if I tried. From the minute he started he was welcomed with open arms and they made the transition from his previous nursery go so smoothly. He has made some amazing bonds with not only his key workers but also the children in his group and is constantly telling us about the fun activities he has gotten up to in the day. The staff are beyond incredible and have fantastic communication and nothing is ever too much to ask for. The nursery has such a homely feel to it and the offsite trips are always such a hit with our son (especially Forrest school!). Thank you to all @ Tiny Toes!

I just wanted to follow up on my previous review a year or so ago. I understand how important reviews can be to a business. My Son has been at Tiny Toes in Hoddesdon since he was 9 months old (he is now 2.5 years) and absolutely loves his time there. He has made some strong bonds with other children and the staff. The activities are great for their learning and development and the food provided is great and nutritious. He sometimes gets to go out on trips which he loves to do! The staff are all very nice and I like that all of the staff call my son by his name even if they are not working in his room. A very special thank you to my sons key worker Willow whom he adores. All in all, a really great nursery!!
