About this day nursery

Wells House Kindergarten, founded in 1996, operates from a spacious detached property with extensive outdoor grounds in Stoneclough, Radcliffe. Conveniently located with access to major transport routes, it serves families commuting from Swinton, Bury, Bolton, and Manchester.

The nursery provides high-quality childcare and early education for children from birth to five years, dividing them into four age-appropriate units: Tiny Wanderers, Little Adventurers, Little Explorers, and Discoverers. Their child-centred approach is rooted in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, fostering holistic development across physical, intellectual, emotional, and social domains.

Wells House Kindergarten embraces an inclusive environment, valuing diversity and ensuring all children feel secure and supported. Their unique ethos is built on 'Security, Knowledge, and Growth,' inspired by research confirming the lasting benefits of high-quality early education.

The nursery places significant emphasis on outdoor learning, encouraging daily exploration and active play to support children's health, learning, and development, aligning with UK Chief Medical Officers' guidelines for physical activity. They also champion a mindful approach to early years education, having integrated mindfulness practices since 2014 to support children's emotional well-being, self-regulation, and focus.

This long-standing commitment to mindfulness aims to create a calm and nurturing atmosphere for both children and staff. Wells House Kindergarten values strong partnerships with families, recognising parents as crucial educators and collaborating to support each child’s journey.

They offer flexible and competitively priced options, including full-time, half-day, and daily sessions.

Our ethos

At Wells House, we believe every child is a unique individual with the potential to grow into a confident, independent learner. Our child-centred ethos is rooted in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and supports the holistic development of each child across the Physical, Intellectual, Emotional and Social (P.I.E.S.) domains. Our ethos is Security, Knowledge, Growth: Children thrive in a safe, stable environment where they are known, cared for and understood; Learning is embedded in play and exploration, guided by experienced practitioners; Every child is supported to grow at their own pace. We are proud to be a Mindfulness Nursery — a commitment we embraced in 2014 under the leadership of our founder, Tina Knight. We have consistently seen how mindfulness transforms behaviour, builds emotional resilience, and creates calmer, more connected children—and we continue to champion its role in healthy child development.

Both of my children attended Wells house kindergarten between the years of 2006 until 2014 from the ages of 5 months to 4 years of age. The quality of Wells house I most like is the homely atmosphere they create. The staff are highly qualified and professional but also warm and welcoming making the difficult transition back into work much easier. The staff go above and beyond to ensure that as a parent I was happy and comfortable with the care and education both my children received. There is a well structured curriculum from birth until they leave for school to ensure that they were school ready when they left. In particularly, my youngest child who was less confident and undertook speech therapy, the final year at Wells house gave him the confidence to enter school where the teachers felt his communication and language skills were excellent. The nursery ensure that the children are school ready by contacting each school and getting photographs of the teacher, assembly hall, playground etc so they are familiar with their surroundings. Teachers will also visit the nursery and vice versa so that they can meet the children and talk to the child's key person before the transition. I could write a lot more but overall I would highly recommend Wells house kindergarten.

We were very happy with Wells House as a nursery for our daughter. We moved her from an ostensibly 'Outstanding' nursery, where the care was poor, to Wells House, which was homely and nurturing. She had a happy two years here and leaves for 'big school' with good memories and preparation. Thank you to all the staff for their care and hard work.

Both of my children went to this nursery from being 5 months old to starting school. They absolutely loved it, as did I. I never had a complaint, the staff were all brilliant and nothing was ever too much. All nurseries are there to keep our children safe whilst providing them with growth, development, and skills for their lives, but Wells House excels at this!

Both of our children attended Wells House. One from the age of 3 and the other from the age of 2. They both skipped in each morning and were in great form when they came home. They blossomed under the care of the warm staff, enjoyed the wonderful meals and learnt so much through play. They made lots of friends and were ready for school after their time there. A huge thank you from our family to all the staff for the care, attention and fun way they broadened their little horizons. ❤️
