Whickham Parochial Preschool and Out of School Club in Newcastle upon Tyne fosters a nurturing and dynamic learning environment for young children. The environment at pre-school is inclusive, stimulating and challenging, where enjoyment and fun are linked with discovery and learning. Children will learn through their own initiated play ventures, as well as adult led activity. We constantly reflect upon our practice and strive to improve the quality and consistency we offer.

Inclusion & environment
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are supported exceptionally well. Staff are extremely proactive in seeking out specialist support, working closely with the local authority, health visitors, and speech and language therapists. Interventions and targets are precise and regularly discussed and evaluated, helping children with SEND to make the best possible progress.
Children confidently explore the natural environment and quickly become deeply absorbed in their play, investigating natural resources like cut flowers, and planting potatoes and strawberries in the allotment. They enthusiastically run to the outdoor classroom to find a book about wildflowers and use the garden for physical development, including riding bikes, using a rope swing, and climbing trees.
