About this day nursery

3-2-5 Pre-School, established in the early 1980s in Andover, Hampshire, provides a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children. Located in the modern and secure Burghclere Down Community Centre, the pre-school offers ample indoor space for various activities and an enclosed outdoor play area.

The dedicated team strives to create a calming, home-like atmosphere with natural colours to reduce overstimulation and foster positive behaviour. The learning approach centres on children leading their own exploration, with educators employing an "in the moment planning" strategy, joining children in their play to extend their learning during moments of high engagement.

The curriculum focuses on play-based learning, aiming to develop independent and confident learners ready for primary school. The pre-school uses educational software called 'Tapestry' to document each child's individual learning journey, allowing parents to view observations, photos, and videos, and contribute to their child's progress.

Emphasising imagination and curiosity, the pre-school incorporates natural and real-world items instead of plastic toys, providing opportunities for creative, risk-aware play. They also integrate Makaton, a language programme using symbols, signs, and speech, to support children's communication development, aid in settling in, and provide parents with a 'sign of the week' via their Facebook page.
