Acorns Nursery School Cirencester, a family-run establishment since 1952, offers premier early years education for children aged 3 months to 5 years. Located in the heart of Cirencester, the nursery is often described as a 'hidden gem' due to its extensive facilities hidden behind an unassuming gate, including four gardens and beautiful Cotswold stone buildings.
Overseen by owners Helen and Miles Guerrini since 2005, who both trained at Cambridge University, Acorns is dedicated to providing exceptional care and fostering development in young children. The nursery operates all year round, from 8 am to 5:55 pm, and is registered with Ofsted.
They follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, focusing on the unique child, positive relationships, enabling environments, and learning and development. In addition to their nursery services, Acorns also runs Mighty Oaks After School and Holiday Clubs for older children (5-13 years) at various locations.

What it's like
Leaders, managers and staff have made positive changes since the last inspection, including better systems for knowing what children need to learn next and staff training that helps children manage feelings using stories about a colour-changing monster. Babies have fantastic spaces to play and explore with sensitive support for routines and transitions, and older children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, are confident and well prepared for the move to school.

Inclusion & environment
All children including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities are confident for the next stage in their development. Staff talk with parents and teachers to share information about the children and organise visits for teachers to the nursery; children also visit their new schools.
Outdoors, children investigate ice blocks and use stones they find to break up the blocks, developing problem-solving skills and physical coordination.
Our eldest daughter has attended this setting since September 2017 and will be finishing in the next week (she’s off to school in sept 21) but we will still be part of the Acorns family as out youngest daughter will be starting in September 21. We could not imagine anywhere better for our girls. Everyone in the management team all the way through to the staff in each room are just fantastic. We loved the facilities when we first went and love them even more now having seen the huge improvements and changes which have been made over the years. The secure outside space in the centre of town is fantastic and in our experience, they make the most of it (this is especially good for our daughter who loves the mud kitchen and water play). Being so close for trips to Cirencester Park or the Abbey Grounds is such a treat. It’s hard for me to put into words how incredible the staff are - hardworking, dedicated to each child, caring, loving and nurturing. I feel confident choosing Acorns as our nursery/preschool and also recommending them. Call and speak to them, visit (if you can) - it is truly a wonderful place for children to thrive and be so incredibly happy. I just asked my daughter ‘what do you think of nursery’ - in her words ‘I love nursery. It’s just so much fun’ (word for word).
Read on GoogleOur experience started with Acorns baby unit and went all the way to a Yr 6 in Mighty Oaks after school club. The care for the children has always been fantastic. The creativity and energy of staff to entertain and amuse the children in different ways is second to none. This family run business is set in a great location and will provide high quality dependable childcare for all children.
Read on GoogleBoth my children attended Acorns and have now love attending Mighty Oaks afterschool and holiday clubs, where they continue to receive the same outstanding level of care we'd come to expect from Acorns. This nursery really is home from home - the range of activities provided by the staff for the children never ceased to amaze me. A brilliant nursery which I thoroughly recommend.
