Ambler Children's Centre and Extended School operates as a community hub in Islington, encompassing both a primary school and a dedicated children's centre. The centre prioritizes providing a supportive and engaging environment for young children, offering comprehensive early years provision.
Admissions are processed according to the Islington Council’s admission policy, with places allocated from an applications list. The centre actively encourages parental involvement and community engagement, offering monthly tours of its nursery, baby, and toddler rooms.
These tours allow prospective families to explore the learning environment, including garden spaces and dedicated forest areas, meet the team, and understand the centre's operational approach. Inclusion & environment
Leaders and staff adapt learning to meet children's individual needs, including those who are disadvantaged or have special educational needs and/or disabilities. A dedicated inclusion lead supports children and their families, preparing them for their next stage of learning. Staff create early support plans for children with additional needs, swiftly identify learning gaps and implement targeted strategies, leading to outstanding progress.
The inspector observed the quality of education being provided, indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact that this was having on children's learning. In all areas, indoors and outdoors, staff's considered presentation of the good-quality resources means that children can self-select and develop the skills they need to be independent learners.
