How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are well supported by their key persons. Staff identify any areas children may require support in early on. The nursery's special educational needs coordinator works with staff to ensure they provide an inclusive provision for children. Staff work closely with other professionals including those who deliver specialist language support to help children develop their communication skills.

Outdoor space

Children of all ages have good opportunities to be physically active. In the garden, they climb and balance and safely manoeuvre wheeled toys around the circuit. They spend lots of time in the well-resourced outside area. They develop strong physical skills as they take part in regular physical play.

My daughter started at conewood(baby room) in October and has settled so well. The staff are fantastic I couldn’t ask for a better more trustworthy place to take care of my child

Fantastic children’s centre. My twins have been at the nursery for coming up to 3 years and have been so well looked after, they’ve really been supported to develop and grow into themselves. I’ve also used the health drop ins for baby weighing and been to the under 1 and under 5 stay and plays and the quality of provision has always been extremely high. Thank you to everyone at Conewood for your hard work and dedication!

Couldn't recommend Conewood more highly. My son attended full time starting in the baby room. Every caregiver who looked after him was kind, patient and intentional. Staff retention is great, we got to know everyone in the centre and felt that they all knew and cared about our son and all of his classmates. The garden is a great space and is used really well for different games and activities.

Conewood Street Children's Centre discriminates against children of working parents, as they have implemented a rule that gives first priority to children who attend sessions with their parents. As such, children with carers are denied access until fifteen minutes after the session has started and are sometimes outright refused access, depending on the staff member on duty. Their venue is described as “friendly, safe, and welcoming”, but that only applies to parents. Carers are treated remarkably differently, and the claim that their sessions are inclusive is disappointingly inaccurate.

A lovely nursery with kind, caring staff in each of the three settings, as well as a responsive administrative staff. Highly recommend. Of particular note is the large garden in which the children are able to play throughout the day, and all year round. The outdoor space at the other nurseries in the area is much less appealing and limited.
