What parents say

Verbatim quotes recorded in the Ofsted inspection

Parents commend the care and progress their children achieve, particularly in communication and physical skills.

They describe staff as inspirational and going above and beyond to support their children's success.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is outstanding. Staff ensure that activities are inclusive for everyone and use meticulous assessments to identify needs early and access external expertise swiftly. Specialised training equips staff to support children in managing emotions and sensory needs, while calming spaces and sensory tools enable children to self-regulate their own feelings and behaviours well. Staff share strategies and resources with parents so that the children can make the best possible progress.

Outdoor space

Staff have increased children's access to the outdoor environment and physical activity over recent years, which has had a very positive impact on children's ability to regulate their emotions, settle and concentrate for longer periods of time. Children thrive with rich experiences outdoors, such as looking at birds in the mini forest where practitioners skilfully support them to identify new birds.

My son who is now 7 attended this nursery for 3.5 years and my twins have now been here 3 weeks. The staff are fantastic nothing is too much, all lovely and approachable (my kids love them). Parent teacher communication is second to none from nappie changes to what and how much they’ve eaten napped etc all recorded on the app so you can check throughout the day what they’re up to. Huge outdoor play space with lots to do including bikes etc. location is fantastic even for none drivers as lots of transport links within a minute walk Management and the owners are amazing overall lovely environment for parents and kiddies. If you’re looking for a nursery I highly recommend this one.

Picked my little girl up this afternoon for the last time after she has spent 2 wonderful years at Appledore. The care that the management and staff have shown from the very 1st day has been amazing. The warm fuzzy feeling you get dropping your child off at a place where you know they are happy, safe and well looked after is priceless. Me and my wife cannot thank everybody involved with Appledore enough and it will always hold a special place in our memories.

My daughter has been attending this nursery for 3.5 years. Today was her last day as she starts school from next week. Can’t even begin to explain how great this nursery has been for my daughter and for us as parents. I have seen how much my daughter has developed since her first day. Initially she was very unsettled and cried a lot which is probably the norm for a lot of children. But the staff here knew exactly how to make her feel at ease and she quickly became familiar and comfortable with everyone and the environment. She has learnt a lot and has become a very confident child. Thanks to everybody at this nursery who cared for her and played a big part in her development. Every person in this nursery is amazing, caring and so nurturing which is exactly what you want. Though my daughter was sad to leave (as we are too), we are greatful she got to experience this in such an early part of her life. Thanks to all the staff and management of this nursery for such a great experience. I highly recommend this nursery if you are looking for one. I recommended other family members to this nursery who have had the same experience.
