Apples and Honey Nightingale is an intergenerational pre-school and day care for children aged 3 months to five years, known for being the UK’s first intergenerational nursery. Situated within the grounds of Nightingale House, an older person’s care home, the nursery provides a unique environment where children interact daily with older residents, fostering a deeper understanding of life cycles and mutual respect.

This warm and nurturing setting encourages children to become confident, resilient, and enthusiastic learners. The curriculum is enriched by a Jewish ethos, integrating Jewish year themes and festivals with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, though the nursery welcomes families of all faiths.

Children engage in diverse activities such as cooking, playing, singing, and gardening alongside their older friends, benefiting from a rich blend of cultural opportunities and stimulating learning experiences. The nursery operates as a Community Interest Company, reinvesting all fees to ensure high-quality staff training, catering, and a well-equipped environment.

Emotional and mental well-being are prioritised, with an emphasis on developing self-reflection, confidence, and conflict resolution skills through their intergenerational approach.

Pricing & funding

Fees are invoiced monthly in advance and are reviewed annually. A minimum booking of either three core days or two full days is required. Parents are charged for three staff training days per year, but are not billed for bank holidays or other planned closures.
