Ashbourne Day Nurseries at Leicester Central provides a welcoming and friendly environment for children aged 1 to 4 years. The nursery focuses on fostering a sense of security and belonging through strong bonds between staff and children, supported by an effective key-person system.
Children are encouraged to develop independence from an early age, with staff supporting self-care routines and allowing children to take responsibility during mealtimes. The curriculum is well-planned and staff work closely with parents to understand each child's interests and prior experiences, building a full picture of their starting points.
The nursery places a strong emphasis on experiences beyond the setting, including trips to the local library and outings to learn about art and diverse cultures, which helps children understand the world around them and grow in confidence. Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) receive effective support, with leaders utilising funding to increase staffing ratios and collaborate with external agencies.
Staff act as positive role models, encouraging respectful behaviour and supporting children in managing their emotions. The nursery has a "Good" overall effectiveness rating from Ofsted, with "Good" ratings across all areas including quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management.
The setting also embeds mathematics in everyday routines and offers a wide range of opportunities for children to develop physical skills, both indoors and outdoors.

Inclusion & environment
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) receive effective support. Leaders make good use of additional funding to increase staffing ratios and put targeted support plans in place. They work in partnership with external agencies to ensure children can access specialist help. As a result, children with SEND are included in all aspects of nursery life and make good progress from their individual starting points.
Children benefit from a wide range of opportunities to develop their physical skills. Outdoors, they run, climb and ride bikes to build strength, balance and coordination.
