Our ethos
At our nursery in Orton Southgate Peterborough we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, supporting all areas of your child’s development from three months until they are ready to go to school. Our early years practitioners monitor each child’s progress and plan a variety of enrichment experiences to support individual development in all areas of learning. Children learn best from real experiences of textures, smells etc. and we find the best place to experience all this is the outside. Inclusion & environment
Children progress very well from their individual starting points, including those children with special educational needs and/or disabilities and those who may face additional barriers to their learning. The nursery special educational needs coordinator is dedicated and passionate about helping children with SEND to achieve their potential. She holds regular meetings with children's key persons to ensure support for children's learning is precisely tailored to their need.
Children develop their large movements and coordination effectively in the garden as they ride, scoot and run around. Children's learning environment and experiences in the outdoor environment, especially for babies, are not as well developed. Leaders acknowledge this and plan to provide babies with their own dedicated space.
Children who speak English as an additional language are highly valued and appreciated. Staff make every effort to learn children's home languages and customs.
We are so happy with the nursery and staff. We were really nervous and unsure if nursery in general was going to be the right choice for us (after hearing some horror stories). But we looked around and spoke in depth to nursery staff. My little boy has started and although there has been tears (from both of us) he has adjusted so well. He really enjoys his time there and they tailor his learning to his interests. His confidence is building so nicely and we have seen a massive difference at home in his language skills and imaginative play. A massive win for us is also the food, he has tried so many new foods and eaten them compared to home. We love the fact that they do school readiness, especially as he’ll be a young one in his year. The staff are really lovely and very caring, we always get a full run down of his day which I like. Highly recommend when looking at nursery’s in Peterborough.
Read on GoogleReally a great nursery for my daughter!! We were really clueless in the beginning while searching a nursery for our daughter who has learning disability and struggling with her walking . But Ashbourne has been a blessing and whatever support the 2 days they are providing is phenomenal . The staff here are very helpful kind and really passionate about what they are doing. Really a five star nursery
Read on GoogleMy son recently left Ashbourne to go to ‘big school’ and the nursery couldn’t have prepared him better. Although he was sad to leave, he was also so excited to go to school and confidently walked straight in on his first day which was largely due to the transition work put in by the staff at Ashbourne. My daughter is still at the nursery and literally runs in every day. The staff genuinely care for the children and offer both children and parents a lot of support. I would definitely recommend!
Read on GoogleMy daughter has been going to this nursery for 5 Months and she loves it, she is our only child and it was daunting thinking about sending her to any nursery. We visited many nurseries and we found Ashbourne to be brilliant from the first interaction, to the settling in sessions and my daughters first day there. The team are so friendly, knowledgable and caring. They have been as supportive to myself and my wife as much as our daughter. I can't thank all the team from those in the settings to those in the main office, there is genuine warmth, patience and a love of children here. Our daughter loves all the resources, outside play and other children, we have seen a real growth in her (including learning to walk from being around the other children who were walking). Honestly can't recommend the team and Ashbourne enough, we have since been putting our daughter in for extra days too.
Read on GoogleMy little boy loves it here. Rarely wants to come home at the end of the day! He’s made so many friends and from not being able to talk words into forming sentences has been a huge step! We looked at a lot of nursery's and we just got this homely vibe from the staff and management are quick to address any issues and solve the concerns you have. The se do has been fantastic at putting in extra support with other external professionals to push for speach therapy for our little one! Cant wait to entrol my baby girl here next year!
