About this day nursery

Aughton Early Years Centre, originally a village school dating back to 1910, reopened as a nursery in 1973 and has since evolved into a highly respected provision within its community. In 2001, the centre expanded to include a day-care service, and from 2003 until 2025, it operated as a Children’s Centre before transitioning into wider Early Help Locality services.

The centre offers additional services, including an extended day, and is renowned for its high-quality provision, attracting visitors from local, regional, and national levels. With a warm and welcoming family-friendly ethos, Aughton Early Years Centre maintains high expectations for all children, acknowledging their individual developmental paces.

Both governors and staff are dedicated to ensuring child safety and upholding high standards, actively fostering collaborative partnerships with parents, carers, and the community to positively influence children’s well-being, development, and learning. Pricing & funding

Charges vary by age band across the nursery's different departments. The Young Children’s Base is open all year and offers half and full-day sessions including meals. Pre-School and Foundation Stage 1 bases operate during term-time only, offering standard sessions, lunch clubs, and wraparound care.

Good to know

  • Young Children’s Base is open all year except Christmas, while Pre-School and FS1 bases are term-time only.
  • Standard fees include meals (breakfast, lunch, and/or tea depending on the session).
  • Early Education Funding is term-time only (38 weeks) but can be stretched for the Young Children’s Base.
  • Additional fees are payable for non-funded sessions when funding is stretched.
  • Contributions for meals during funded sessions are charged separately for breakfast, lunch, and tea.
  • A weekly snack donation is requested towards the cost of snacks and baking.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Senior leaders and staff work collaboratively with external agencies to aid early identification and timely intervention for vulnerable children and children in need, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities. All children benefit from the calming sensory room. The knowledgeable special educational needs coordinator provides staff with training and guidance to personalise support for children's needs.

Outdoor space

Children have exciting opportunities to develop and strengthen their large and small muscles. Staff provide hands-on experiences for children in the enabling outdoor area and forest school. Toddlers problem solve and learn to manage risks, for example walking confidently down slopes, balancing on beams and navigating the slides.
