About this day nursery

Beccles Forest Schools is a Community Interest Company dedicated to providing accessible Forest School experiences to the Beccles community. Their philosophy is learner-centred, allowing activities to be guided by the interests of participants.

They strongly advocate for free play and a deep connection with the natural world, aiming to foster curiosity, well-being, and a sense of belonging within a supportive community. The approach emphasises 'risk-benefit' education, where children and adults are supported in assessing potential risks and benefits of activities like using tools, climbing, and engaging with fire, promoting autonomy and a profound respect for nature.

The nursery maintains a low adult-to-child ratio (minimum 1:5) to ensure careful supervision while encouraging independence. All sessions are led by qualified Forest School Leaders, and staff are DBS checked, with a qualified First Aider always on-site.

They operate from The Wild Meadow on Beccles Common, an exclusive area for their Forest School activities, and also collaborate with local schools and nurseries. Their core values include kindness, continuous learning, strong relationships, fun through free play, and an unconditional positive regard for all individuals.

This is a wonderful forest school set in a beautiful woodland. My daughter attended for a year and thoroughly loved it. The staff are amazing, friendly and supportive. They also run a holiday club for older children which is a great way to spend the holidays, feel free and get a break from the structure of school. I can't recommend this place enough.
