Inspector highlights

  • Children enjoy their time at the nursery and feel emotionally secure, forming warm and affectionate relationships with staff.
  • Staff provide a stimulating learning environment, identifying individual next steps and offering activities to promote them.
  • Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities thrive due to skilfully adapted activities and resources.

  • Strong relationships are fostered with parents, who praise the nursery highly and are invited to regular meetings to discuss their children's progress.

Areas to develop

  • 1Hygiene practices do not promote children's health effectively. Regular cleaning of sleep mats is not undertaken often enough and sanitised hand drying facilities are not consistently provided. Some children share a towel that comes into contact with the floor in the bathroom. Young children are not always seated securely for meals, which compromises their safety.
  • 2Leaders do not effectively monitor staff to ensure that supervision of children while eating is consistently embedded, or that hygiene practices are implemented in line with policies. This has a detrimental impact upon children's welfare.

My little girl has been at BDN since Nov/Dec, and she absolutely loves it... the team are amazing with the children, and I have no faults or issues. Im writing this though, especially after today, with a morning from hell, including transport issues which also meant i worried about breakfast. The girls were amazing and so understanding of the issues I had, and ensured me not to worry, and they would help with my daughter as soon as I got there. I highly recommend BDN to anyone, theyre amazing!!

Our little boy joined Bedale when he was 9 months old and the team have been absolutely amazing. He loves going to nursery and is very comfortable with each of the baby room team. It's a real 'home from home' setting and we really like the fact that the team don't update us on an app, instead we get a written sheet at the end of each day with all the details of what our child has eaten, slept, played with etc. I really appreciate that the team are so flexible to our requirements - we have a term-time only place and we also do 1 full day and 2 half days each week, which works with my work schedule. We can also ask them for additional days or swaps and they're more than happy to help if they have space. I cannot recommend Bedale Nursery enough, they are a fantastic team who work very hard and my little boy is thriving there.
