Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Managers are committed to supporting children who have special educational needs and/or disabilities. When staff identify delays in children's development, this is acted on without delay. There is a dedicated manager who observes children and supports staff to implement individualised plans to help close any gaps in children's learning. Staff and managers work with other professionals to get children the help they need so that they can reach their potential.

Outdoor space

Outdoors, children practise their early writing skills as they use chalk to make marks on boards. Children have ample opportunities to practise and develop their physical skills; they skilfully kick and throw balls to adults and develop their coordination skills as they attempt to hit smaller balls using rackets. Older children assist staff in checking the garden for any risks before they, and their friends, go outdoors to play.

‘I hated this nursery and I wish you didn’t send me there. They made us all lie down on the floor every time when only one person was naughty. When the parents are there they are nice and kind but when the children are there only they are really mean. It wasn’t a nice place. I would tell them to definitely change how they act. No one should send their children there, not at all.’ This is from the perspective of my 6 year old who attended beechwood at Mill-Lodge in 2023. Last night we read a book about a bully and he told me the bully reminded him of his nursery teachers. At the time he couldn’t verbalise why he cried going into nursery every morning and I thought he just had separation anxiety. I wish I had trusted my gut now that he has been able to explain. I can’t change his poor early years experience but I can let him tell it in his own words. I have no idea if the staff have changed or if things have improved since then but I do know how gutted I feel that he has such disappointing memories of nursery and that a good Ofsted isn’t everything.

This nursery is absolutely lovely. Staff in the baby room are experienced and were so kind. Baby’s were happy. It feels like a family environment. Unfortunately our plans changed in regards to nursery however, I would highly recommend this nursery to those locally. The manager Sarah was lovely, professional and so kind to me throughout. I cant thank them enough for their kindness, professionalism and communication
