Blackburne House Nursery, nestled within a historic Grade II listed building in Liverpool's Georgian Quarter, offers a nurturing and multicultural environment for children aged 0-5 years. As part of a larger charity, Blackburne House, the nursery is committed to supporting local women and contributing to the community.
The nursery focuses on fostering a strong partnership with parents and carers, utilising the Famly app for daily communication about children's progress, activities, and meals. A 'Key Person' system ensures individualised care and builds trust between staff and families.
The nursery promotes healthy eating by providing freshly cooked meat-free meals and encourages children's independence through easily removable clothing. Beyond childcare, Blackburne House, as a whole, provides a wide range of educational courses and qualifications for women, with profits from its social enterprises, including the nursery, going towards these educational initiatives.
The organisation’s vision is to empower women to achieve personal and financial independence through education and skill development, aspiring to inspire confidence and overcome adversity in a positive and inclusive environment.

Inclusion & environment
Staff adapt their approach for children who have special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). All children, including children who are funded and children with SEND, are supported very well. The special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) works in partnership with a number of agencies to ensure all children receive the support they need.
Children have access to well-resourced indoor and outdoor environments. Outside, children enjoy playing in the snow, where staff introduce new vocabulary and children learn about the world around them.
