About this day nursery

Blossom Patch - Wembley is a childcare setting located in Wembley, operating from 7:00 to 18:45, Monday to Friday. The day nursery cares for children aged 1 to 4 years.

An inspection on 2 July 2026 found that the setting requires urgent improvement in several key areas. Leaders have not ensured that staff are suitable to work with children, with required suitability checks often not in place, compromising children's safety and wellbeing.

The curriculum is not ambitious or effective, meaning children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), do not make sufficient progress. The key-person system is not robust enough to identify and meet children's individual needs, and leaders and staff struggle to support social and emotional wellbeing.

Furthermore, the setting has not met safeguarding standards due to leaders' poor understanding of processes and procedures. The overall leadership and governance demonstrate limited capacity to improve the quality of provision, with breaches in early years foundation stage requirements putting children at risk.

Staff do not have a clear understanding of learning intentions or how to adapt teaching for individual children's age and stage of development. The day nursery has also not met the requirements of the compulsory and voluntary parts of the Childcare Register.

What it's like

Children's safety and wellbeing are compromised by leaders' poor understanding of safeguarding processes. Required suitability checks for staff are not consistently in place, and unchecked adults are left unsupervised with children, including during intimate care routines. Children do not have access to an effective curriculum, and the key-person system is not effective in identifying children's learning needs.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Weaknesses in the curriculum and teaching mean that children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, do not make sufficient progress in their development. Leaders and staff do not promote an ambitious curriculum for all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Children with barriers to learning and SEND are not identified by leaders and staff and, therefore, are not given opportunities to progress. Leaders and staff do not demonstrate the skills to swiftly identify those with barriers to learning or special educational needs and/or disabilities, and support for these children is often inaccurate or non-existent.
