About this day nursery

Bluebells of Ratby Preschool is dedicated to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment where all children can thrive. With a strong commitment to safeguarding, the preschool works collaboratively with parents, external agencies, and the community to ensure each child receives the best possible start in life.

The approach is holistic, focusing on the seven areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and adapting to individual children's needs. Learning is balanced between child-initiated discovery and adult-led activities, utilising continuous play, engaging provocations, and small group interactions.

The facility is designed to support development through a supportive and welcoming atmosphere, offering a variety of resources that foster curiosity, imagination, and engagement. Activities are carefully planned to build emotional resilience and social skills, ensuring each child's voice is heard and clear expectations are set.

Bluebells of Ratby also prioritises collaboration with parents and carers and provides ample time and space for children to focus and retreat when needed. The preschool is particularly praised by parents for its ability to boost children's confidence and for the dedicated and responsive staff.

Our ethos

Every child is unique and is constantly learning, and we want to help them become resilient, capable, confident and self-assured. Each child has the right to equal opportunities and the best possible start to their EYFS years. We as 'Practitioners' look holistically at the 7 areas of the EYFS and the child's needs in the setting at any given time. We offer a balance of child-initiated and adult-lead learning by using continuous play, provocations, and small group activities.

How they support every child

SEND provision

All children, including children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, are happy to arrive and quickly engage themselves in the range of inviting activities that staff offer them. The manager speaks to children's key person and parents to help identify how to spend additional funding that some children receive, which is spent effectively to support children's development.

Outdoors, staff help younger children to learn about shadows. When children play with large magnetic shapes in the garden, staff help them to understand that the edges of the shapes are magnetic. Older children use paintbrushes with water to make marks on the wall outdoors.
