About this early years setting

Bowland Preschool is located at St. James C of E Primary School in Clitheroe, providing care for children from two to four years old. The curriculum has a significant focus on outdoor learning, which Ofsted noted as a strength. Staff create a lively and adventurous environment where children experience challenge, risk, and problem-solving. Real-world learning experiences are part of the routine and include nature walks and observing the use of garden tools. The setting has high expectations for children's independence, teaching them to manage their belongings and undertake small tasks.

A priority is placed on developing children's language and communication skills through conversations and listening activities. The nursery is open from 8.30am to 3pm, Monday to Friday, during term time. Ofsted inspected the nursery in September 2025 and judged its overall effectiveness to be Good.
