Bradley House, part of Portland Nurseries, is a well-established nursery in Huddersfield, offering care and education for children aged 12 weeks to 5 years. Located in a leafy residential area, the nursery provides a welcoming atmosphere with spacious, naturally lit rooms.

It operates from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, 51 weeks a year. The nursery incorporates Montessori classroom principles in its mixed-age toddler and preschool rooms, fostering a natural family-like environment where older children can act as role models.

Children have access to dedicated rooms for age-specific learning, including a focus room for phonics and maths, a role-play area, and a Science Kitchen for STEM activities. Outdoor learning is a significant aspect of their approach, with daily outdoor play and a Forest School method utilising the garden's natural resources.

The emphasis is on connecting children with nature through activities like planting vegetables, playing in mud kitchens, and exploring water streams and climbing apparatus. The nursery prioritises parent involvement through a Parent App for daily updates, stay-and-play sessions, volunteering opportunities, and parents' evenings, ensuring a collaborative approach to each child's development.

Our ethos

Our mixed-age toddler and preschool room follows Montessori classroom principles where children of different ages become role models and mentors and younger students feel inspired and supported by them. This mirrors a natural family environment with siblings or a community setting. At Bradley House Nursey your child will play outside every day allowing them to discover and appreciate the wonders of nature and experience the changing seasons. Our Forest School approach to outdoor learning means using the natural resources found in our garden and all indoor and outdoor areas have high quality play resources for your child to enjoy and learn with, many of which are made from sustainable natural materials.
