About this day nursery

Bright Horizons Haslemere Day Nursery and Preschool, established in 2004, is a childcare setting located in Haslemere, catering to children aged 1 to 4 years. The nursery operates year-round, from 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM, Monday to Friday.

Safeguarding standards are met, with a commitment to an open culture where concerns are actively identified and managed, ensuring children feel safe. The dedicated staff warmly greet children upon arrival, creating a nurturing environment where children quickly settle and happily engage in available activities.

The nursery is particularly strong in its commitment to supporting children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), conducting effective assessments and working collaboratively with other professionals and parents to provide targeted support. While there is a strong focus on children's wellbeing, behaviour, and attitudes, with staff encouraging kindness and independence, the curriculum currently has weaknesses in teaching quality and mathematical understanding.

Nevertheless, leaders are committed to addressing these areas to ensure all children benefit from high-quality education and care.

Our ethos

Bright Horizons integrates learning and emotional well-being through its Nurture Approach to support holistic development. It fosters a safe, loving environment that encourages exploration and aims to build life skills through engaging activities, offering an enriching childhood experience.

What it's like

There are weaknesses in the curriculum that mean that children do not benefit from high-quality teaching across all areas of learning. This has not been addressed effectively enough by leaders, so staff do not receive the high-quality professional development required to drive improvement forward. This has a negative impact on children's overall learning and achievement. Staff warmly greet children on arrival and provide the nurturing care they need to thrive. Children settle quickly. They are happy and eagerly participate in the activities that are available to them. All children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, have equally positive experiences. Staff encourage children to explore their environment indoors and outside, developing a deep curiosity about the world.

We were quite apprehensive about sending our little one to nursery and the staff at Bright Horizons have been fantastic at helping her to settle in. They get to know each child individually and I've been particularly impressed by their communication - regularly keeping us informed of our daughter's progress and putting in place special measures if/when they feel she needs it to ensure she thrives. Well done Emma - you have a great team who are clearly passionate about what they do.

Our daughter started Bright Horizons just a month ago having been at a much smaller nursery in London and she absolutely loves it here. The facilities and indoor and outdoor space are amazing and the staff are very caring and attentive. We are so happy with how quickly she has settled here since there has been so much change moving house.

Extremely well managed nursery. The staff continually go out of their way to find new educational ways to entertain and engage the children. The children and parents are always met with kind and welcoming response from staff this is echoed by how much my son loves it. I can easily say that Bright Horizons Haslemere is the best nursery in the area and I will 100% recommend it to anyone thinking of sending their child there

The staff here are so friendly and our son absolutely loves going here everyday. They do a variety of activities and are always coming up with new ideas. He loves the food and is always having 2nds! Would highly recommend this nursery as we are very happy with the level of care our son gets. The longer opening hours are great for commuting too.

Bright Horizons staff have been brilliant at helping us settle our one year old in nursery. Going back to work and handing your child over to strangers is a big step, and the interactions with the warm, friendly staff at Bright Horizons have been so reassuring. I can see how much our son gets out of spending the day with other children and with professionals who understand child development and who involve him in a range of fun learning activities throughout the week. We also receive lovely thoughtful updates on his development via the app, along with occasional photos and a daily update on his meals (a much better & more varied diet than I have at work!), nap times and nappy changes. The building is characterful, well-loved and warm. There is so much in the news now about the underfunding of the early years education sector and it's appalling. The job these professionals do is so important for our society - critical to children's development and safety - and they should be appropriately paid for that work. I'm very grateful we have a place with a nursery where we feel confident our son is safe and cared for.
