Bright Stars is a collective of private nursery schools located across the UK and Ireland, dedicated to providing exceptional early years education. Established in October 2017 as Cresswell Nursery Schools, the group evolved through a merger with ICP Nurseries in 2020, eventually rebranding as Bright Stars in 2021.
Their core mission is to foster an environment where every child can flourish, learn, and develop into confident, independent, and compassionate individuals. They achieve this through a child-centred approach, a unique curriculum designed to inspire curiosity, and continuous investment in stimulating indoor and outdoor spaces.
The company prides itself on its passionate and well-trained professional staff who are committed to outstanding care, and they maintain strong partnerships with parents and local communities to support each child's growth and well-being. Bright Stars is continuously innovating its practices, integrating the latest research and educational methodologies to ensure high-quality learning experiences.

Inclusion & environment
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) have tailored support to help them to make progress. The manager and staff identify children with SEND through their assessments and discussions with parents and work with parents and other professionals to ensure a suitable curriculum is put in place; staff support includes lip-reading and visual prompts for children with a hearing impairment.
Children have regular times playing outside where they practise physical skills, such as balancing on low planks and progressing from balance bicycles to pedal cycles. They also negotiate the outside area safely on wheeled toys and use the 'tree house' confidently.
A number of children speak English as an additional language; staff support them by using key words from their home language and pictures so they become confident communicators.
Our experience with this nursery has been extremely disappointing, particularly in how they handled our child, who has special needs. We believe the nursery took advantage of the placement to secure additional funding, only to later reduce their hours and, in our view, allocate that funding elsewhere — if not for personal gain, then certainly not for the benefit of the children it was intended to support. What makes this worse is the general attitude and behavior of the staff we observed. Many appeared disengaged, lethargic, and unmotivated. There was a clear lack of energy or meaningful interaction with the children. Staff often seemed disinterested in their work, and certainly not the kind of people you'd hope to entrust with the care and development of any child — let alone one with additional needs. When the council was made aware of our concerns about misuse of funding and scheduled a meeting to discuss it, the nursery coincidentally terminated our child’s placement shortly afterward. This move felt retaliatory and deeply unprofessional, especially given the vulnerability of the child involved. On top of that, valuable time has been wasted — time that could have been used to support our child's development — as we’ve had to divert our focus to gathering evidence to support their case and ensure they receive the help they are entitled to. That time is something we can't get back, and the impact on a child with additional needs during such a crucial stage of early development cannot be overstated. When we raised further questions about the funding and decision-making, Sharon, a senior member of staff, was evasive and passive-aggressive in her responses. Rather than offer transparency, she threatened legal action should we speak out — citing slander and defamation. For the record: defamation applies to lies, not facts. We are more than prepared to defend ourselves financially and legally, and we will not be intimidated into silence. Cheshire East Council and Ofsted are now involved and actively investigating the matter. We have provided evidence, and we’re determined to see this through — not just for our child, but to help ensure other vulnerable children and families don’t face the same treatment.
