Burnham Pre-School, established by parents in 1965, operates as a non-profit childcare organisation within the Burnham-on-Crouch Village Hall. It serves the local community and surrounding areas by providing early years education and care.
The pre-school is an active member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance and is officially registered with Ofsted and the Education Department of Essex County Council, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards. The facility offers a stimulating environment with two dedicated rooms catering to different age groups: the Reception Hall for children from one year and six months old, and the Foundation Hall for those aged three years and above, with a smooth transition process between the two.
Additionally, a third hall is available for small group activities, aiding in preparing children for school routines. An enclosed outdoor play area is accessible year-round, promoting physical activity and outdoor exploration.

Inclusion & environment
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities receive appropriate support. Staff make adjustments to the provision on offer. Staff share their expertise with parents and work closely with other professionals to access appropriate support and funding for children.
The committed manager and staff team reflected on how they can improve the provision. They recognised that the outside learning environment was an area for development. The committee members helped to fundraise to make improvements. Staff engaged with the local community. For example, they spoke to police officers, who helped them to consider the safety of the new layout. As a result, children have a more inviting and secure space to play and learn outdoors.
