Busy Bees Day Nursery at Weymouth, established in 2011, provides childcare for children aged 0-4 years. Located in Weymouth, the nursery operates all year round, Monday to Friday, from 7:00 to 18:00.
The setting uses the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. Leaders at Busy Bees Day Nursery foster an inclusive environment where staff promptly identify and assess children's individual needs, including those with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND).
They adapt interactions and the environment to ensure all children can participate confidently. Staff receive relevant training to strengthen their understanding of inclusive practices and maintain close communication with families to ensure consistent support.
The nursery has a spacious outdoor area where children can move freely, run, and explore equipment suitable for their age and stage, with activities thoughtfully planned to match developing skills. Although the nursery has faced challenges with inconsistent supervision and staff prioritising tasks over interactions, leading to some missed learning opportunities, children generally enjoy their time, especially activities like singing, exploring books, and using the outdoor space.
Most children form warm, trusting relationships with their key workers. The nursery focuses on supporting children’s progress from their starting points, with children making steady gains in their foundational knowledge.

Inclusion & environment
Leaders establish an inclusive culture where staff identify and assess children's individual needs promptly, recognising emerging concerns and working closely with families to agree early support. Staff understand the needs of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and adapt their interactions and the environment to help them participate confidently alongside their peers. Leaders with specific responsibility for SEND receive relevant training to strengthen their understanding of inclusive practice and maintain ongoing communication with families.
Children benefit from a spacious outdoor area where they can move freely, run and explore equipment suited to their age and stage. Staff plan activities thoughtfully and adapt resources so that toddlers and older children can explore in ways that match their developing skills. Children spend time outdoors in all weathers, but staff do not always use these opportunities purposefully to extend learning.
After a lot of consideration my husband and I thought it wise to share our recent experience with Busy Bees, Weymouth. After our current nursery placement closed, we were left in a dilemma that required urgent childcare. We contacted Busy Bees and were informed that we could have a Friday allocation for our 14mth old daughter. Ecstatic with the chance, we asked for the paperwork so that things could be completed quickly and swiftly. We received no paperwork. After calling twice a day and explaining that nothing had come through we were given the same response of "the paperwork is on its way" and checking of email addresses. Still no paperwork has arrived. Due to our situation, we made it clear how desperate and grateful we were to even be offered the space, however our gratitude soon turned into feeling like we were nothing more than a burden. We eventually gave up calling after receiving no help or support from any of the staff members. Luckily we have managed to source a placement elsewhere, however we are utterly disappointed in the conduct of the nursery and the professionalism of the staff. Knowing our situation and listening to myself cry down the phone, we could not (and still cannot) understand why no guidance was given - even if the place had been filled, a simple email or call to explain would have sufficed. We would have understood. Instead they have tarnished our view of the nursery and we have shared our thoughts with other parents/families - who, unfortunately also seem to have unpleasant experiences, however that is not our qualm to tell. We found the whole situation unnecessarily difficult and still have no answers as to why it panned out the in this way. We wish the establishment luck and any parents who choose to attend the nursery luck as well - hopefully no one else has the experience that we did.
